Day 1: Setting up a Server with LAMP

  •   9:00 -   9:30 — Getting to know students
  •   9:30 - 10:30 — Knowing your hardware. Starting install of OS
  • 10:30 - 10:45 — Student Break
  • 10:45 - 12:00 — Maintaining OS and learning System commands
  • 12:00 - 12:30 — Student Lunch
  • 12:30 -   1:30 — Installing System utilities - Webmin C-Panel - Plesk
  •   1:30 -   3:00 — Security - Overview, IP tables, Firewalls, SSH, SSL
  •   3:00 -   3:15 — Student Break
  •   3:15 -   4:45 — Installing Apache, MySQL, PHP, FTP, sendmail
  •   4:45 -   5:00 — Shut down systems - End of class lab
Day 2: Basic overview of Apache
  •   9:00 -   9:30 — Overview, features and benefits of Apache
  •   9:30 - 10:00 — HTTPD Start and Stop
  • 10:00 - 11:00 — Configuration files: Configuration file syntax and testing configuration
  • 11:00 - 11:15 — Student Break
  • 11:15 - 12:15 — Turning on feature
  • 12:15 - 12:45 — Student Lunch
  • 12:45 -   1:30 — GUI and Configuration files
  •   1:30 -   2:30 — Access file names - allow overrides
  •   2:30 -   3:30 — Security - CGI's and SSI's
  •   3:30 -   3:45 — Student Break
  •   3:45 -   4:30 — Virtual Hosts
  •   4:30 -   5:30 — Performance Tuning
  •   5:30 -   5:45 — Shut down systems - End of class lab
Day 3: Basics of MySQL or Postgre SQL
  •   9:00 -   9:30 — Overview, features and benefits of MySQL
  •   9:30 - 10:30 — Database design basics
  • 10:30 - 11:30 — Learning SQL
  • 11:30 - 12:30 — Student Lunch
  • 12:30 -   1:30 — Backup of database - GUI and Command line
  •   1:30 -   3:00 — Class Lab - Design own database
  •   3:00 -   3:15 — Student Break
  •   3:15 -   4:50 — Understand large application databases
  •   4:50 -   5:00 — Shut down systems - End of class lab
Day 4: Basics of PHP
  •   9:00 - 10:00 — Overview, features and benefits of PHP
  • 10:00 - 11:00 — Language Syntax - basic editors
  • 11:00 - 11:15 — Student Break
  • 11:15 - 12:30 — Basic variables and adding Perl
  • 12:30 -   1:30 — Student Lunch
  •   1:30 -   2:00 — Adding logic to PHP
  •   2:00 -   3:30 — Working with Sessions and Forms
  •   3:30 -   4:30 — Working with RAD development tools for PHP
  •   4:30 -   4:45 — Shut down systems - End of class lab
Day 5: Class Project: Develop with basic RAD development
  •   9:00 - 12:00 — Hands-on projects using LAMP
  • 12:00 -   1:00 — Student Lunch
  •   1:00 -   2:00 — Hands-on projects with LAMP
  •   2:00 -   2:30 — Shut down systems - End of Entire class
